Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed.
So, who are the transformers of tomorrow? A look at our new manufacturing circular economy mapping ⬇
Circular economy is a wide concept that can be applied as much to the manufacturing, food, construction, and energy industries (and many others). 💡The 2nd hand market, trusted by giants like Vinted and Backmarket is just one aspect of the newly circular consumption of manufactured goods. Building a sustainable economy goes far beyond the consumption phase. It spans from product design to waste management, and it’s probably at both ends of this spectrum that the market is most ripe for disruption, since no change of routine is needed at the individual level.
Circular manufacturing is a holistic new system based on the 3Rs framework: Reduce, Reuse, Recyle.
Rethinking Manufacturing Startups across Europe are leading the charge in redefining manufacturing through resource-conscious practices. By streamlining production processes, optimizing raw material use, and embracing new manufacturing technologies, innovators are drastically reducing the environmental footprint of their creations. From advanced materials to sustainable factories, the focus is on minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency and products lifetime.
A Paradigm Shift in ConsumptionThe paradigm of consumption is undergoing a transformative shift driven by startups that embrace “reuse” as a core principle. From fashion to electronics, the rise of circular business models is obvious, encouraging consumers to rethink the traditional approach of ownership. Through platforms facilitating rentals, second-hand markets, repair services, and refurbishing initiatives, these startups are fostering a culture of longevity.
Closing the Loop on WasteAt the end of the product lifecycle, a new breed of startups is dedicated to closing the loop by efficiently handling waste. Whether it's for plastic or CO2, these innovators are pioneering recycling technologies that breathe new life into discarded materials after proper collection and sorting. By championing responsible disposal methods, they pave the way for a future where waste becomes a valuable resource rather than a burden on the planet.
We decided to leverage our expertise of startups building a more circular future for manufactured goods - from Aramisauto, Circular Materials, 900.care, Voidless and Greyparrot - to map out a European landscape of startups in the Circular Manufacturing Economy.
